But, it was a shame we couldn’t get out there on Sunday so I could show you how it’s done. I fretted all day Saturday and even had a practice in the garden Sunday morning just to get rid of the frustration of not being able to get out on the fairways.
I hope you all believed that. Really, I was tucked up by the fire keeping warm, it reminded me of a game we had there a while ago. About 20 of started and only 5 finished. As we finished the ninth we staggered into the clubhouse cold, wet looking for warmth and food, to get rid of creeping hypothermia.
This must be the first game for many a year that we have had a cancellation. I know we have played in all sorts of weather but I’m racking the OLD grey matter to when we never started one, Ullesthorpe came close and so does The Belfry way back when.
Going by the profiteering going on, our next fixture may be in the snow as well, if not snow, certainly cold. I don’t care I’ll be in the sun. The next fixture will be at Chipping Norton one of last year new ones. I think most people liked the course; it had changed a lot since I last played it.
Chipping Norton will be on Saturday 6th of April, tee off at 1-36pm. Phil has sent out a reminder so don’t forget to call him (01327 700554) or Email daynes61@aol.com last date Easter Monday. Cost on the day will be £24 plus bits. Please be there by 12-30pm.
How to get there.
Follow the A361 from Banbury through to the round about at the junction of the A3400 Stratford Road, out side Chippy. Take the first turn left towards Oxford on the A3400 to the traffic lights, ¾ mile and make a right turn onto the A44. The golf course will be about 300 yds. on the left. Those coming from Oxford way follow the A44 to the lights and turn left.
Summer Tour
Tony has given you all the information about the tour, so please try and support it on one or two of the days, even if you can’t make the whole four. It would be good, as it will give you a view of how things are, and may encourage you to join in next year. It’s not like our usual golf days, its better, depending how much you had to eat and drink the night before. Tony will be getting in touch with those going to organise deposits and courses to play. Please try and support the tour.
Competitions
As you will have seen, Bob has done the draw for both the singles and doubles competitions. There are some choice pairings in the doubles and a good draw in the singles. As Bob mentioned, please contact your opponent and get your game going as soon as possible.
That’s all for now, I’m off to Disney (again) and a bit of sun
Have a good day at Chippy.
