Firstly I have some disturbing news, on his way home from our Kirtlington fixture, Brian fell/tripped over in Boddington and sustained some serious injuries. He is in hospital in Oxford at present in ICU and is not receiving visitors, but we will keep you informed, Phil will be seeing Clare soon and will let us have more information on his condition.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Clare and David at this time and for a speedy recovery for Brian.

The Byfield Driver - October 21, 2012
Congratulations to our victorious team. Once again we retained the driver, three years on the trot. It was forecast at the beginning of the week as heavy rain for Sunday, but changed as the week went on and the sun shone on us this Sunday. It started badly for me with a car that wouldn't go then a senior moment, I forgot the Trophy and had to return home, good job I only got as far as Chippy.
I arrived at nine at the course to be greeted by a number of our members ordering coffee and rolls, just what I needed. As the time moved on we had all assembled but there was a lack of the opposition players, this could be an easy day. This gave some members time to put on our new shirts which Peter was distributing. These are the new strip for next year and can be seen in the photo gallery, great shirt design and style. Eventually Chippy members turned up in dribs and drabs and just about made the 10am start, not what we or I needed.
We eventually assembled at the First tee to be greeted by our artistic director Tony who proceeded to take portraits of the team ready for the web site. The sun was trying it's hardest to stay out but there were some ugly clouds stopping it, there was also a chill breeze blowing and only the hardy went out without a sweater on.
We were led away by Bob and Dave (the axe), followed by this years doubles winners Nigel and Alan W two strong pairs who duly came in with scores 5&4 and 6&5 over the opposition. Third out were Patrick and Alan (chips) who came up against very good pairing from Woodford. Patrick said they were to slick!!! and could not hold them so finally losing on the seventeenth 2&1 a brave effort. Next on the fairway was Dave C and Peter who seemed to cruise round looking at the score but it wasn't that at all, after taking an early lead, Chippy held on but lost the odd one here and there making the final score 5&4 to us.
The Dream Team were out next Drew and Tony and very tough match it was too, as the concentration was so intense they lost a hole on the match in front. This match to went to the wire, but it went to Chippy 3&2.
Next away was Dennis and Myself (capt pick) as we have play together for a few Drivers now, and won.We were up against one of the toughest pairings from Chippy and played against them on a number of occasions. After going two up they pulled us back but we managed to get back to 2 up by half way. On the back nine again they pulled us back, as we won one they got one back but soon we were dormy four, but back they came, but we managed to hold on and win, 2&1. I keep saying we but I must say Dennis played magnificently, I came in with a few halves but as we say it's a team game. And our last team out was Phil and Chris with another task with a strong final pairing from Chippy although loosing 3&2 Phil and Chris said it was one of the best games they have played in, to and fro all the way round but couldn't hold them in the end.
The final score 4-3 to Byfield, well done team, I'm very proud of all of you.
As usual the game was played in it's friendly but competitive manner by both sides, and great to see our friends from Chippy again, although we meet most of them through out the year, I'm looking forward to next years meeting, to see if we can whup them again, with your help.
See you all at Presentation Night.
The Blind One
