The draw put me out first with THE CAPTAIN, first time in years, with me in the buggy was Dennis England with his new size 13 shoes like a couple of barges. lastly in our party was Dave Williams (Mr speedy), I had a job keeping up with him even with a buggy.
With the course in good shape with good greens which were hard to read, It was a pleasure to watch my partners play some wonderful shots, especially into the greens and put it away for par or birdie, I did manage a few good shots as well not to be out done. Dave will admit though that he was rubbish when trying to chip into the green and Patrick soon fined him for his utterances, but driving into the par threes he was m---c. on the 13th he was within 6 inches of the pin on a very tricky par three and got his two, to join Patrick who started it off with his two on the 11th. There was another two from Phil Daynes as well and a lucky chip in from Chris Ward to make a par. Apparently Chris was in his fireman's mode (ex fireman) spraying every thing in site, poor old boy still has a bad foot, take more fluid with it.
There were lots of 4 pointers this week, one or two in every group which shows how good we are getting these days, or is it just luck on a lovely day, I don't think so.
Today we had two thirds of the society with thirty points and more, well done, and it was good to see John Simson up in the top five with 33pts, it's a long time since you have seen the dizzy heights John keep it up.
Winner on the day was Tony Brock with 38 points, well done Tony, the second win of the season. (get rid before the tour). Second with 35pts, was Patrick Stone, I'm sure he was playing to keep his handicap as he miss some easy shots near the end. And third was Phil Daynes with 34pts who had to contend with playing a singles match as well, he certainly had his mind set on, as he beat Dave Crocker 6&5 well done Phil.
The 2's were shared between Dave W, Patrick and Phil. The nearest the pins on the 9th and 13th were scooped up by Dave Williams. Well done to all.

Summer Tour
We are only four weeks away now from our Tour to sunny Lincolnshire. Unfortunately one of our party has had to pull out due to ill health so we are looking for someone to take his place. You don't have to come for all four days just Saturday and Sunday, Bed and Breakfast and two rounds of golf, but you would be very welcome to partake in all four fun full days of Golf dexterity.
Check your diary and call Tony for details and where to send your cheque we are looking forward to seeing you, do it NOW
PS
At this year's AGM, Drew gave twelve months notice of his resignation as Treasurer, and Martin would run alongside him with the view to take over in the new year. Due to work and nautical pleasures he will be handing over to Martin ASAP. Apparently he has boarded a narrow boat and hopes to hoist his main sale and fly his jolly roger on the canals of Britain, I hope Susie knows.
We wish you well, and many thanks for keeping us in line and financial stable over your years as Treasurer. Don't forget us and the golf when you beach the SusieDrew.
All for now see you all at Brandon Wood.
