Yesterday saw a return to our fixtures list for the first time since soggy Collingtree. Ten of us went out in pairs to Three Locks, south-east of Bletchley for a restricted, but highly enjoyable round of golf. Starting @ 10:30 some played Stableford, others Matchplay but all had a good time in fabulous weather. Because of social distancing we were obliged to stand outside to consume our end of round beverage, but it was worth it.
There seems to be some confusion about the winner on the day, probably Paul Green with 32 points, hard to be definitive as no score cards were handed in, we are only playing social golf, after all.
As a pair, Philip and I had some good holes and some not so, generally speaking the golf was not as good as the course which was in lovely condition. Progress was unhurried, we were offered to play through by the twosome in front but declined, and still finished in under 3½ hours. As each pair came in behind us it was plain from the smiles that they were delighted to have been out. On my way home I spotted something I don’t expect to see in Daventry for quite a while, a robot delivering someone’s dinner, it was trundling it’s way along Tongwell St in Milton Keynes to or from a destination unknown. I had to stop to take a picture, they do a fair rate of knots.
Our next outing is confirmed as Market Harborough on May 31, first tee time at 12:00. Paul Fixtures has secured 7 tee times and will be sending out further information. I look forward to seeing you there.
