16 members plus 1 guest (welcome again Adie) attended Kirtlington for the last Greenwood fixture of the year, requiring 5 groups! Captain Paul was missed, if I can take this opportunity on behalf of the society to pass on our condolences to Paul and his family.
Despite the dire weather forecast of earlier in the week the day was lovely bar a blustery, windy wind. The course was excellent in all aspects, the club has great facilities and the course offers a varied challenge especially with a windy wind!
I was with Richard playing the doubles final against Neil and Paul Collins in group 5, who were out the blocks quickly winning the first 3 holes, we rallied to level the match at the turn but were soon behind again, our putts not sinking and theirs were, culminating in a monster from Found It from off the green on the par 3 16th, meaning a 3 & 2 win, congratulations to you both, very well played!
Congratulation to Dave Fuller and John Simson for the nearest the pins and Found it for picking up the 2’s pot.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the committee and members for a great season, it has gone by all too quickly, we do however still have the Driver against Chipping Warden next Sunday at Cherwell Edge GC, the Awards Dinner in November and a Captains Curry Evening date tbc.
best regards
Peter
