Former Captain Paul Collins presenting the cheque to his chosen charity, The Three Pillars
The 3 Pillars - Feeding the Homeless and Supporting the Community charity has for several years been carrying out its work in the Peterborough, St Neots, Huntingdon and Rushden areas, distributing hot food, bedding and clothing to homeless people and the most vulnerable from their mobile catering vehicles. With the help and support of many agencies and volunteers, the charity has also facilitated the housing of over 180 people, of which 77 are now in employment.
Led in Northampton by Aaron Day (receiving the cheque, below) and a wonderful team of helpers, they have extended their operating area into the town, with a new feeding centre and Food Bank which opens on Tuesday and Friday evenings each week from St James Church rooms, Northampton.
When we consider just how privileged so many of us are, it is certainly a humbling experience. There is not a shortage of food or money in the world, it’s just not in the right places; what 3 Pillars does is to encourage us all to SHARE!

2017 Awards Presentation & Dinner, the Maltster's Arms, Badby
Our 2017 awards evening was a great success, thank you to the membership for turning up and the committee for your unstinting efforts throughout the year to make our society a fun group to be with. Thanks also to Merlin, Lucile and their staff at the Maltster's Arms for a great venue and dinner. In addition to the golfing activities we had two good causes to work with this year, the Captain's Charity was the Friends of Danetre Hospital and I was delighted to welcome guest Chris Long to receive our donation of £1,000, thank you everyone who has handed over their winnings, paid fines and generally contributed to our fundraising. As a group we were moved by an appeal during the year on behalf of a local family trying to make life better for their daughter, Harriet. We found some extra funds and in consultation with Harriet's Dad, provided some physiotherapy equipment to help Harriet in future. If you are a member of our society, be proud of what we do, if not, take a look at the photos, come and play golf with us, we have a great bit of craic doing a little bit of good.
Captain's Day, The Welcombe, September 3rd, 2017
I would like to thank everybody for turning out on what was, by a considerable margin, the worst day we have had all year. Group photos and shots from around the course were not possible but the friendship and enjoyment in the restaurant afterwards was plain to see. Well done Paul Fawcett, Richard Darlison and Dave Williams for their 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. I have included a photo of the hotel in sunshine - it really is a lovely place and the food and hospitality staff were outstanding.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our committee this year, Paul Fixtures, John the money, Nelly the scribe and Ringo the cutter. If Captain elect Rob has such a fine team he will do well and enjoy his year.

The Byfield Driver, Cherwell Edge, October 20, 2014
Well done to Terry and the Chipping Warden team in winning the Driver Trophy back in a great game. Played in great spirits at Cherwell Edge in one of the best October days we could have wished for. In the end, despite some bigging up from Byfield, Chipping Warden won the day 4 matches to 2. The course was in lovely condition, the beer flowed smoothly and a great time was had by all, ending up at the Hare & Hounds afterwards.
We will have to see whether Byfield can step up and do better next year.
